Trash Talk: MPCOV Takes on Sugar Creek
On October 3, thirteen members of Myers Park Covenant Church rolled up their sleeves and joined the annual Catawba RiverSweep, helping remove litter from Sugar Creek behind Park Road Shopping Center.
The group collected an impressive amount of trash from the creek and surrounding areas, demonstrating a shared commitment to caring for God's creation and improving the health of our local waterways. While the volume of litter was discouraging, the willingness of volunteers to spend their Saturday serving the community was an encouraging reminder of the impact a small group can make.
Adding a bit of fun to the day's efforts, Sofia Bartholomew earned a special recognition, winning a beautiful pottery bowl for collecting both the "best" piece of trash and the most trash during the cleanup.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's RiverSweep. Through their hard work and dedication, these volunteers helped make Sugar Creek a cleaner and healthier place for our community and its wildlife.
Well done, MPCov RiverSweep team!
