The Youth Ministry of Myers Park Baptist Church is a welcoming and affirming place for all youth (6th-12th grade). We follow God in the way of Jesus who shows us what love, justice, and spirituality are all about. We are committed to journey with one another as we learn, serve, and grow in community. What is "youth?" 

People in 6th grade through 12th grade, typically 12-18 years old. 

How does my youth join? 

1. Complete the online Youth Update Form

2. Let Rev. Tara know that you and your youth will be joining. 

3. Show up, be yourself, and have fun! 

What and where is the Youth Hall? 

An upstairs space dedicated specifically to our youth ministry complete with brightly colored walls, a/v capabilities, and a kitchen.

Definitions
  • Acolyte - a person assisting in religious service; at MPBC, they light the candles before the service and extinguish them after. 
  • Discipleship - an optional, free 10 session course beginning in October for youth interested in exploring faith and Christianity as a personal choice; includes rich discussions, guest speakers, and mentorship connections; concludes with an out of state visit to various houses of faith; offered annually. 
  • Lay reader - any person who is not a minister who reads scripture on Sunday mornings for worship. 
  • Youth Block - the name for the youth 2-hour block from 4pm-6pm each Sunday; parents are always welcome to stay, but not required.
