CALL TO ACTION: STOP THE GREAT BETRAYAL
Everything Myers Park Baptist Church has and continues to stand for, fight for, and supports is being betrayed by recent actions of our present government. It is a Great Betrayal of our MPBC faith tradition.
In light of the administration’s implementation of Project 2025, many leaders are calling it The Great Betrayal--betrayal of democratic institutions and norms. People are asking: “What can I do now?” Protect LGBTQ+ members of our community. The administration is making their lives far more difficult through executive orders, changes in laws, alterations in civil rights laws, or changes in how such laws are enforced. Our trans members are fearful, and our married couples are concerned their marriages may be dissolved.
Administration leaders use rhetoric that unleashes hatefulness by bigoted people. We urge you to work with others in being vigilant against prejudice and bigotry, wherever it might break out. When you see or hear it, call it out. Join with others to stop it. Alert local police and city officials, get them involved. If you know someone in the LGBTQ+ community, offer them words of support!
