Who's New in the Pew?
Welcome Jon Bass!
We are delighted to welcome Jon Bass, who joined Myers Park Baptist Church on September 23 by affirmation of faith and transfer of membership from Christ Lutheran Church.
A proud native Charlottean, Jon's roots in the Queen City run deep. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School and UNC Charlotte, and both of his parents were Charlotte natives who graduated from Central High School, now Central Piedmont Community College. Soon, his family will celebrate an especially meaningful milestone: Jon is eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild, due on Christmas Day. His grandchild will become a fifth-generation Charlottean, a legacy that brings him great pride.
Jon is the father of two children, Mason and Carson. Mason lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife, and Carson recently returned to Charlotte with her husband as they prepare to welcome their new baby.
Now retired, Jon enjoys staying active through fitness, skiing, and foreign travel. He has already begun connecting with the life of our congregation through the Marketing Committee and has appreciated the friendships of members including John Geer and Robin Buck.
Reflecting on his journey to MPBC, Jon shares:
Over the years I have been a member of several churches in Charlotte. With my extended family, I have had exposure to many churches across different denominations. I have never felt as at home as I do at MPBC. The reception from the congregation has been pleasantly overwhelming. I feel very blessed to be a part of our church.
