Congratulations Dr. Marina Luckhoo!
At Myers Park Baptist Church, we give thanks for moments that reflect God’s ongoing work in the lives of our community. With great joy, we celebrate a significant milestone for Rev. Marina, who will graduate with a Doctor of Ministry degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary on June 27, 2026.
This accomplishment reflects years of dedication, scholarship, and a deep commitment to expanding the reach and meaning of spiritual care in a diverse and changing world. Marina’s journey has been shaped not only by academic excellence but also by a clear sense of calling.
In 2022, Marina was honored as the recipient of the Martha and Fred Stair Fellowship Award from Union Presbyterian Seminary. This prestigious award recognizes promise in pastoral ministry and supports post-graduate study. Marina credits this fellowship as a pivotal opportunity—one that made it possible to pursue advanced theological education and deepen her ministry impact.
At the heart of her doctoral work is a visionary and timely project: “Spiritual Care for All – a digital resource and companion for the spiritual seeker.”

This resource was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Marina was serving as a hospital chaplain. In a time when patients were often isolated from their faith communities and spiritual leaders, the need for accessible, inclusive spiritual support became urgently clear. In response, Marina began developing an online space that could offer comfort, connection, and meaningful practices across traditions.
The project has since grown into a rich and thoughtful platform featuring contributions from Interfaith Partners of South Carolina (IPSC), whose members shared wisdom rooted in their diverse religious backgrounds. It now includes an “A–Z of Spiritual Practices,” offering short, accessible exercises drawn from a wide range of traditions—designed to meet people wherever they are on their spiritual journey.
Marina’s work has already gained recognition and support from respected organizations, including the Chaplaincy Innovation Lab, the Neshama Association of Jewish Chaplains, the Association of Muslim Chaplains, and the Humanist Society Chaplain Cohort. These partnerships affirm the importance and relevance of her vision for truly inclusive spiritual care.
Looking ahead, Marina hopes to expand this initiative into a free mobile app, making these resources even more accessible for both spiritual care providers and those seeking comfort, meaning, and connection.
As we celebrate this extraordinary achievement, we also give thanks for the ways Marina’s ministry continues to embody compassion, innovation, and a deep respect for the spiritual diversity of all people. Her work embodies a vision of spiritual care that is expansive, accessible, and rooted in love.
Congratulations, Dr. Marina! We are grateful for your leadership and inspired by your work.
