Ready, Set, Sing! The Chancel Choir Season Begins
As summer gives way to a new church season, the Myers Park Covenant Church Chancel Choir is preparing for an exciting year of music, fellowship, and worship, and everyone is invited to be part of it.
Whether you're a seasoned singer, a former choir member, or someone who simply enjoys singing along with the radio or in the shower, the Chancel Choir welcomes you to experience choir life during its annual retreat in Berry Hall. No audition is required, and the choir offers a flexible attendance policy that makes participation accessible for busy schedules.
Come Sing With Us
The choir retreat provides a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow singers, learn new music, and discover the joy of making music together. Participants are welcome to attend any or all of the rehearsals:
Friday, August 28 | 7:00-8:30 pm
Saturday, August 29 | 9:30 a.m.-12:00 pm
Saturday, August 29 | 4:00-6:00 pm
To help us prepare, please let David Tang know if you plan to attend. He'll be sure to have music waiting for you when you arrive. Contact David at dtang@myersparkbaptist.org.
Curious About How the Music Comes Together?
Not ready to sing? You're still invited.
An Open Rehearsal will be held on Saturday, August 29 at 4:00 pm in Berry Hall, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how the Chancel Choir prepares for worship and special musical seasons. As the choir explores selections for Advent and Christmas, guests can observe the rehearsal process and experience the creativity, collaboration, and musical craftsmanship that bring each anthem to life.
The afternoon will feature previews of upcoming seasonal repertoire, including audience-favorite sing-alongs such as Julian Wachner's joyful setting of Joy to the World. And for those who feel inspired to join in, extra music will be available.
An Evening of Talent and Laughter
The celebration continues on Saturday, August 29 at 7:30 pm in Heaton Hall with the choir's annual Talent Show and Open Mic Night.
This lighthearted evening showcases the many gifts of choir members through music, storytelling, poetry, comedy, skits, and more. Whether you'd like to perform, cheer on friends, or simply enjoy an evening of entertainment and fellowship, all are welcome.
A Place for Every Voice
At its heart, the Chancel Choir is more than a musical ensemble. It is a community of people who share a love of music, worship, and friendship. The retreat weekend offers numerous ways to participate, from singing and observing to laughing, listening, and connecting with others.
No matter your experience level, there's a place for you. Come see what the Chancel Choir is all about and start the new season with music, joy, and community.
