As children, many of us were taught that church was made up of a building, a steeple, and all the people. Those three components were inseparable. But the heart of the church does not exist without all the people.
Myers Park Baptist Church does not exist without you—the people—each and every one of you.
As 1 Corinthians 12:7 tells us: "To each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”
Without you, Myers Park Baptist Church would be deprived of the unique part of the Holy Spirit you hold as a gift from God. The church needs your attention, your time, your talents, and your financial support. Please don’t “sit back and wait to see.” Your role and the gifts you bring matter now. Without you, we would be deprived, because you are an essential part of this church community.
When you receive the commitment card, please fill it out as a reflection of the key role you hold in the well-being of Myers Park Baptist Church. Affirm and pledge the gifts you’ve been given by the Holy Spirit and can bring to this community—yourself, your talents, and your financial resources.
Your presence and participation are vital to the life of Myers Park Baptist Church. You are not just part of the church—you help define it. May you feel empowered to share your gifts, knowing that what you bring strengthens our community and honors the Spirit within you. You are a key.
