The Call to Justice

The Call to Justice is a "hot" news alert system for Myers Park Baptist Church members and friends who want to be notified of soon-to-happen justice events and opportunities.  It is meant to supplement the church's weekly newsletter with urgent justice information on issues aligned with the public statements previously made by MPBC on Racial, LGBTQ, and Immigration Justice, as well with the justice initiatives of the church's Ministry of Justice and Outreach in the areas of Economic, Environmental, and Education Justice. It is not a place for church events planned in advance or individual requests for assistance, matters which are communicated in other ways.  Persons interested in receiving the alerts can join the Realm group The Call to Justice or contact Laura Geer at  to be added to the group.  

Anyone can send information about an event or opportunity for The Call to Justice by sending it to any one of the moderators of the Realm Group: Rev. Layne Smith, Nancy Hudson, Alvin Phillips, or Cindy Adcock. Criteria they will consider for posting to The Call to Justice are:

• Is the event or opportunity aligned with the values captured by the MPBC's statements on Racial, LGBTQ, and Immigration Justice or the justice initiatives of MOJO in the areas of Economic, Environmental, and Education Justice?
• Is it an urgent matter or is it better communicated churchwide through The Weekly or to another small group on Realm?
