Braiding Sweetgrass to Gambrell Center: Sofia’s Impact
Celebrating Sofia Bartholomew’s Inspiring Year
As 2025 began, Sofia Bartholomew, a dedicated member of Myers Park Baptist Church’s Environmental Justice Ministry and a student at Queen’s University, took the lead in guiding 20 church members through an enriching study of Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. This beloved book invites readers to explore the deep connections between Indigenous wisdom, scientific knowledge, and the teachings of plants.
Sofia’s commitment to environmental justice and education didn’t stop there. She closed the year on a remarkable note by moderating the Q&A session after Robin Kimmerer’s talk to a packed audience at the Queen's University Gambrell Center. Her poise and insight during this event reflected not only her passion for the subject but also her growth as a leader within our community.
We are incredibly proud of Sofia for her vision, dedication, and the way she continues to inspire others to care for the Earth and each other.
