About the Event
Charlotte Area Event
Have you ever been curious to see what really happens in criminal court in Charlotte, but were intimidated to go yourself? Well, this is your opportunity to get a tour of the courthouse from a Myers Park Baptist member who has been a criminal defense attorney in Charlotte for over 20 years.
On Wednesday, July 26, Tim Emry is planning to lead a daylong tour for all interested. If you can only do morning or afternoon, then just come for a half day.
The tour will be focused on giving you an opportunity to observe the criminal punishment system as it actually works in Charlotte. Tim will allow you to see a number of different types of proceedings in various courtrooms, while offering his commentary, explanations, and answer your questions along the way.
Tim will meet all who are interested at 8:45 am on the first floor of the courthouse (4th and McDowell), in the large center foyer, under the hanging sculpture suspended from the ceiling.
After a brief orientation and introduction, we will start exploring courtrooms. We will break for a quick lunch at the Fairfield Inn restaurant across the street for conversation and reflection on what we have already seen. We will resume at 1:30pm and wrap up around 4pm. For those who are interested in reflecting or relaxing after, we can adjourn to Devils Logic Brewing a few blocks away.
Parking is available (self-pay) in the large deck that can be accessed off 4th Street or Trade Street and is on the NE corner of 4th and McDowell.
