“Hush harbors” or “brush arbors” have historically been spaces where people of African descent—during and after the antebellum era—have gathered to share in faith with each other. Many marginalized groups have these spaces—secret gardens and clearings in the nature—that are used for retreat for the sake of life and survival. All MPBC members and friends who identify as Black, a person of color, or non-white are welcome to join.
