The Ministry of Music

all_choirs_2011The mission of the Music Ministry is to deepen the worship experience, to educate, and to inspire participation that opens people to God, both in church and in the larger community.

Throughout our history, we have had a deep sense of connection to the classical music of the church. Thoughtful, formal, liturgical worship is our tradition. Our choirs sing Gregorian and Anglican chant, psalms, motets, anthems, master choruses, hymn-based compositions and spirituals within the context of worship.

The great classical literature for organ is played on the church’s magnificent Aeolian-Skinner organ. Piano is also used, as an accompanying instrument for choral works and as a solo instrument. We frequently host guest singers and musicians from the broader Charlotte community, as well as instrumentalists from within our own congregation, to deepen the richness of our musical worship experience.

"I have found MPBC to be a place of intellectual and emotional nurture for me; always encouraging me to wrestle and grow beyond my shortfalls and challenges. The musical programming and meaningful worship has been a grounding of my spiritual development from childhood through the present.
