Security Grant Funding

We're pleased to share that MPBC and the Cornwell Center have each been awarded $150,000 in grant funding from the NC Department of Public Safety, funded through FEMA. These funds will allow us to make important improvements to safety and security across our campus, helping us sustain a welcoming and accessible space for all who gather here.

The next step in the process is to submit additional documents for FEMA approval, which is expected to take a few months. Once that approval is granted, we will begin implementing upgrades to help maintain our campus as a safe, inclusive, and hospitable place for worship, community, and connection. We look forward to sharing more updates with you as this work progresses.

Eva Bender is the Chief Operating Officer at Myers Park Baptist Church, where she oversees business operations for the Church, Cornwell Center, and Through-the-Week School. She approaches her work as a ministry, fostering a collaborative and compassionate staff culture that supports the church’s mission.

Before joining MPBC, Eva served as Executive Director of Operations at Weddington Methodist Church, managing operations for four campuses, two schools, and a mental health counseling center. She previously held senior leadership roles across a range of industries and founded a marketing agency dedicated to helping small businesses grow and thrive.

Eva holds certifications in grief and end-of-life coaching as well as executive leadership coaching. She is passionate about guiding others through life’s transitions and creating spaces for healing and renewal.
