Room In The Inn Returns

by Carrie Veal on September 12, 2024

Room in the Inn (RITI) is a seasonal program that offers overnight shelter for our housing insecure neighbors. We partner with Roof Above, a long-standing Charlotte non-profit, to offer clean, safe overnight lodging for men, women and children during the coldest months of the year.

Each Saturday from December - March, volunteers are needed to prepare beds, pick up neighbors from Roof Above, make and/or serve dinner, pack lunches, and stay overnight at the church. Each of these volunteer spots gives you the opportunity to provide care, compassion and put faith into action for a marginalized population.

RITI is one of the longest ongoing justice and outreach programs at MPBC. It has been the place where congregants have made new friends, discovered their ability to make a big impact in a short amount of time, and found ways to serve as a family or friend group.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing the specific ways you can volunteer. We will train you on all the protocols, give you guidance as you serve, and do all we can to assure that this is a wonderful experience for you.
