Living the Covenant: Myers Park Baptist Members Show Up for Justice
By Valarie Kovolski, MPBC Member and Communications Assistant
On April 5, 2025, a powerful moment of solidarity and faith in action unfolded at the Hands-Off demonstration in Charlotte. Among the crowd standing up for justice were many familiar faces—members of Myers Park Baptist Church, present not by invitation or organized effort, but simply because their hearts led them there.
No formal church coordination took place to bring our community together at this demonstration. These individuals attended entirely of their own accord, moved by a shared commitment to justice, equity, and love. It was a living, breathing example of what it means to embody our covenant in real time.
I was deeply proud to see how many of our members chose to show up, shoulder to shoulder with others, lending their presence and voices to a cause that matters. Their participation reminded us all that being a part of this church is not just about what we believe—it’s about how we live those beliefs out in the world.
This moment reminded me that our covenant is not just words we say—it's a way of being. And on that day, our members showed the city what it looks like when a faith community rises with compassion, courage, and conviction.
