Deacon Nominations
Deacon Nominations and Life Deacons Are Happening in September
It is time to kick off our deacon nomination and selection process. We have a process for the church to nominate Deacons and a separate process for Life Deacon nominations (for Life Deacons only). A summary of how Deacon Nominations work follows:
Deacon Nominations will be accepted from church members from September 10-18, 2023.
Each church member can nominate up to 6 candidates.
- Top 3 candidates nominated by the congregation are included in slate
- Board of Deacon confirms the slate of nominees to be presented to the congregation
- Slate presented to congregation for affirmation vote during worship
Qualifications for deacons include:
- Must be already actively engaged in the church
- Must have demonstrated financial support of the budget requirements of MPBC
- Must have spiritual qualities consistent with the Deacon Covenant
- Must be open to new ideas and ready to listen
- Must be willing to treat sensitive issues with appropriate levels of confidentiality
Not eligible for nomination:
- Those without 2 years break from serving on Deacon Board
- Spouses/partners of members of the Leadership Deacons

9/8/23 Life Deacon Nomination Form will be distributed (Life Deacons Only)
9/10/23 Deacon Nomination ballot available in Weekly electronically, in church Worship Guide and in the Narthex
9/18/23 Life Deacon and Deacon nomination forms must be submitted to MPBC by 11:59 pm
