Celebrating Service, Spirit, and the Beauty of MPBC

by Valarie Kovolski, member and Communications Assistant
On two beautiful Sundays—April 13 and 27—our Myers Park Baptist Church campus came alive with energy, laughter, and the joyful hum of community in action. Two dedicated volunteer groups gathered on separate days to take part in a meaningful landscaping project, demonstrating not just care for our grounds, but a deep love for our church's legacy and future.
With rakes in hand and hearts wide open, volunteers spread mulch, pruned trees, cleaned out flower beds, and tackled numerous other outdoor tasks across our expansive and historic campus. From weeding garden beds and cleaning the sanctuary doors to removing dead trees and planting new ones, each project added to the beauty of what many already consider one of Charlotte’s most stunning church grounds.
But beyond the physical transformation, it was the fellowship that truly stood out. Laughter echoed through the trees, and new friendships were forged while working side-by-side. There was even a celebratory moment as volunteers enjoyed the warm spring sun and gathered around our brand-new church grill, officially putting it to good use for the first time.
This effort was not just about maintaining our landscape—it was about honoring the rich history and sacred space that generations have nurtured before us. Myers Park Baptist Church has always been more than a building; it’s a living, breathing community that thrives because of the generous hearts and hands of its people.
To all who came out: thank you. Your time, your tools, your talents, and your spirit made a lasting impact—not only on our grounds, but on everyone who shares in this sacred space.
And this is just the beginning! Keep an eye out for more opportunities to roll up your sleeves and get involved in future landscaping days. Together, we’re cultivating more than beauty—we’re growing a deeper sense of connection and belonging.
