Many of us are experiencing an epidemic of loneliness and social disconnection. It is known that loneliness is far more than just a bad feeling—it harms both individual and societal health. It is associated with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, stroke, depression, anxiety, and premature death. The mortality impact of being socially disconnected is similar to that caused by smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day and even greater than that associated with obesity and physical inactivity.

To address loneliness and social disconnection we want to create intergenerational opportunities to get together to build relationships and develop a deeper sense of community. Our 2nd Wednesday socials provide a casual monthly opportunity for all ages. We meet at the new Suffolk Punch at SouthPark Mall where there is a plethora of parking, food, beverages, indoor and outdoor seating, as well as play areas for the kids. We hope that you will put this event on the calendar and set aside time to join us on the second Wednesday of every month for this important time of connection and community.
