What is Discipleship Class? Discipleship Class is for youth who have completed 7th grade and who join together on a journey of faith leading to a decision about baptism and membership in our Church. The discipleship process begins in January and will concludes in April with a service of baptism. During these months, discipleship students will choose a mentor to meet with regularly, attend the Discipleship Sunday Morning time together, and visit houses of worship from other faith traditions here in Charlotte.
What is a Discipleship Mentor? A discipleship mentor is an adult who is a member of this Church, selected by you, to walk with you on this journey. Your mentor will work with you from January until Baptism Saturday, spending time with you talking about his or her own journey of faith as well as listening to your journey of faith. Since the mentor/youth relationship is one of the most important parts of discipleship, it’s important to pick a good one!
Here are some questions for you to think about for potential mentors:
We gather regularly on Sunday mornings in Room 205 from 9:45-10:45am to discuss all kinds of topics that are important for the journey of faith. We also have some special gatherings related to field trips or special events. Additionally, there’s just not enough time to cover all of our topics and go on the field trips we want to be able to go on . . . so some of our topics will be covered in audio interviews. These will be recorded and posted below.
