Awakening Shalom Podcasts
Shalom is the Hebrew word for the peace, harmony, wholeness, well- being, community, equity, justice, goodness, and beauty that exist when we are living in right relationship with God, ourselves, other human beings, and all created things. The Awakening Shalom podcast is an opportunity for digital faith formation at Myers Park Baptist Church that accompanies the Awakening Series, a year long journey of exploration and discernment that invites all people to learn about current social justice issues and how they impact our faith.
On August 18, we will march as a people on a journey through the streets of Charlotte as we celebrate our PRIDE. In conjunction with that celebration, join us as we embark on a conversational journey that will center on Queer Theory and Queer Theology, rooted in groundbreaking publications that center the voices of queer-identifying theologians. This integrative dialogue will also highlight the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the Emmy Award-winning show, POSE, and other cultural and theological references. The 4-part series begins August 8 and will be led by Rev. Boswell, Senior Minister, and Mia McClain, Associate Minister.
